Photographer’s Notes:

These women, huddled with their empty baskets, don’t appear to be selling anything. Perhaps they are itinerant agricultural workers looking for work? The size of their baskets suggests they are hop pickers.

This image is from a set of more than 200 nitrocellulose negatives discovered in Minneapolis. The images were shot in Europe during 1904, photographer unknown.
