Photographer’s Notes:

This was the room where I stayed in Nouakchott, Mauritania, just south of the Western Sahara. There was no hot water, and the property hadn‘t been updated since the 1970‘s. The morning light was already heating up the yellow walls while I set up my tripod to shoot this image. If you look closely, you can see my reflection in the chrome light.
