Photographer’s Notes:

These images are from the series In Between: Part II The Escape. These images, influenced by the films of Hitchcock and other mystery/horror films; religious and pagan iconography; and the fiction of Edgar Allen Poe and the Eros/Thanatos philosophies of Sigmund Freud. The images are an exploration of the mystery surrounding life, death, and those states in between. I used a combination of staged and spontaneous photography, using opposite techniques, such as severe light and dark areas to stress the opposite nature of life, to find my balance. Light, a constant, also represents the fleeting nature of everything on this earth. Is that what makes life beautiful?
