Photographer’s Notes:

Early morning on the lake, the mist still hangs in the air. This picture is part of a group of images I shot about a place in southern Wisconsin called French Island. I spent most of a year shooting various aspects of the place. An essential element of life on French Island is the Black River, which flows around and through the land. In this scene, I tried to capture the importance of the river and the beauty and particularly the stillness and quiet of this moment.
