Photographer’s Notes:

A plot in a community garden soon revealed that the previous gardener had planted Japanese lanterns. By the sheer number of this invasive plant, I figured my predecessor ran for the hills and never looked back. Photographers are always opportunists, though, and I looked to these lanterns as the inspiration for another pretty picture.
