Photographer’s Notes:

In many ways, I consider this one of my most successful images. It brings together much of what has interested me as a photographer. Naturally, I love the beauty of light and texture and the symmetry of the composition. The essence of this shot however, is the cycle of time and change it displays. Sand, dirt, pressure, and time create rock. Rock is crushed and piled for later use as a road. Most likely, in some far future time it will again become rock. I am interested in this point of contact between the natural world and human action.
