Photographer’s Notes:

In early 2005, I went to West Africa to photograph a wedding for an American friend and her Senegalese boyfriend. We were touring the area, prior to the wedding, and ended up on Goree Island, just off the coast of Dakar. Slaves were housed here before being shipped off to the United States – and it has become a tourist destination. I was wandering around and found these curious goats. They just stood and stared at me. I love this photograph.
