The color and values have been altered for a more pronounced effect, but otherwise, this is essentially how this graffiti on a railroad bridge originally appeared. What appeals to me is the expressiveness of the face and the parallels with primal art and the primal vein in modernist painting. In a very real sense, these taggers are exhibiting contemporary manifestations of rituals that have been practiced for thousands of years.
