Photographer’s Notes:

This was taken on a winter night in March 1985. Minneapolis had just endured a heavy three-day snowstorm that all but shut the city down. I was digging my car out of the snow and started thinking about its sculptural quality — like it was being chiseled out of rock. I got out the view camera and shot it with light available from the nearby streetlight.
