Photographer’s Notes:

This shot is part of a group from the Badlands. While working there, I observed that there were scenes of vast sweeping vistas comprising many miles of space. But, if you went out into this landscape and walked around, you often encounter scenes more like this, smaller hills and ditches, marks of erosion everywhere. These forms endure perhaps because of harder soil or more rock or possibly the position it occupies in the landscape has protected it.
